In order to understand ourselves it becomes important to understand our roots. To find the connection with the land that nurtures us. To establish a relationship with the culture and traditions that have shaped our civilization.

Most of India is rural. A Service Journey is a one-to-three day trip into a rural village close to Ahmedabad. Here we witness the service work carried out by inspiring non-profits in these remote areas. We get to see first hand the problems. We learn how the urban culture is affecting rural India. And how our lives are intrinsically linked to our villages.

We do this to deepen our own understanding of service, to help those in need, and to discover our ancient land. We often come face to face with heart wrenching situations, but also with an undying urge to help our fellow brothers and sisters.

We get opportunities to meet and learn from rare individuals who share their compelling stories and profound wisdom. We live with the communities and get a feel of the simple village life. We get to see
the local agricultural practices, the arts, the traditional rituals and many other threads that weave the fabric of this life.
