We are once again involved in taking up summer workshops with children residing in the Slum Communities of Ahmedabad.

Samvedna is a school working in the communities of the Vadaj Area. Like every year this year too we are taking a series of three workshops.

1) INTER-TUNE: Samir Sanghavi a volunteer at Shvaas, who took a session on What is Internet and how Internet works at Samvedana's summer workshop.
This session was to be taken for class 8-9-10 who practically had never used Internet. What Samir tried to do in this session was to introduce Internet by staying unplugged. He used dozens of chocolates to be delivered from a sender to a receipient in the class room via all the students in the classroom. What students experienced during the session forms the foundation of Internet
* Data
* Network
* Addresses
* Speed
* Sender
* Receipient
And then ofcourse we plugged in (we had to!) and made the data (a classroom photograph) available on Google maps.The idea was to communicate about internet without using compuer

2) Mind-Mapping: Techniques on Mind-mapping by Mr. Amar Gargesh

3) Innocence to Imagination: Mr. Pravin Pandya (Theatre), Mr. Jajvalya Shukla (Music) and Nirali Shah (Creativity)
Theme of the workshop: How to create magic?
When joy meets attention, when creativity meets stillness, when wonderment meets passion - magic happens!!!
The essence is to teach the children to get in touch with the innate creativity that exists within each one of them and find a medium to express it without any inhibition.
To empower the children to feel strong and open up their imagination to the unknown.
To teach the children that a kind of magic is taking place around them all the time. Creativity lies in being able to perceive this miracle unfolding.
